Though PU conducted the entrance exam thinking there won’t be enough GATE-qualified candidates , the number was such that there was no space left for those who came came through the entrance exam.|
Dejected students like Maneesha tried to reason with authorities but to no avail. Each student had spent Rs2,300 on the form, about 400 had applied for 40 seats. The counseling , scheduled for july 15 , did not even take place.
Maneesha said “My only chance to get admission at PU in MTech has gone down the drain. What kind of an academic setup is this, that the one who tops the entrance exam is not given admission? I am feeling so low”.
Students also said that the authorities should have called for GATE-qualified candidates, and the entrance exam should have been conducted only if seats remained vacant.
Authorities , Dean . university instructions (DUI) ,
Madhu Raka said, “Probably from next session they would not conduct any entrance exam at all.”
Only GATE qualified students will b allowed to apply.
