Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, or widely known as GATE is an examination that is held to test the comprehensive understanding of the students towards the various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. Its results are not just used for admissions to various post-graduate programs, but, the score is also used by a number of government-owned companies in India, for recruiting graduate engineers in entry-level positions.

For GATE 2019, it will be held by IIT Madras on February 2nd, 3rd, 9th & 10th for the 24 papers – including the newly announced “Statistics” (ST).

Eligibility: To start with, ask yourself which out the 24 subjects do you want to opt for? If it is the one that you’ve graduated with or if it has to do with your future study or employment plans? Once you’ve decided your subject, check your eligibility for the same.

Exam pattern: Knowing the exam pattern aids you in preparing for it. I would suggest you go through it once for a better understanding.
Dos for the GATE 2019 Exam:
- Make a timetable in a way that gives you enough time to breathe and rest
- As you start with the preparation, make short notes.
- Make a formula box.
- Set monthly targets, and stick to them.
- Try and complete the syllabus by December.
- Simply solving the questions is of no use; Clear your basics in each subject.
- Revise as you learn. With new topics do not let go of the old ones.
- Start with the test series as soon as you complete a topic.
- Study all the subjects, do not leave any.
- Stay motivated and determined.
